GOVINDA TRAZO: Little Black Dress Collection

It was one of those memories that stick out every time I remember being in high school. Together with my best buddy, Govinda, we sneaked into the school’s library one time and tore apart a certain page from Time magazine. Yes, we did something other students would avoid doing. Who was it on that page huh? Kurt Donald Cobain. 😛

We were Nirvana’s biggest fan ya know. Govinda had this amazing sketch of Kurt’s portrait and Oh, high school have I missed you so! we even played in our own little music band together (yes, Govinda is one amazing vocalist,too). I was always so proud of her artistic talents ever since then. She always had the knack on what’s right to mix and match, wore the perfect attire for any day, and sees beyond color palettes. Through the years, she’s been one of my greatest influence in seeing through Life in arts & design. By the time we got into college, she pursued her love in Fine Arts while I took computer engineering. I kinda wished I graduated the same path,too sometimes but I also believe Life’s twists and turns will always bring you to where you’re supposed to be at any point in time. 😛

Fast forward today, my best buddy has turned into a really remarkable doodle artist and an aspiring fashion designer. And I couldn’t feel any more proud when she had her first ever dress collection and so grateful that I had the chance to photograph them for her. This was also my first take , sort of, officially on a fashion styled shoot we did last July 2011 in Cebu and it was totally crazy fun. I do feel like I have so much more to really learn so hopefully I can work on this kind of project next time again. I was glad to photograph the amazing young aspiring fashion dolls: Nesy Jayctin, Shani Mae Saito, & Wendelle Sanchez, who all breathe life to each dress they presented. They were incredibly talented I can’t wait to someday see them in fashion magazines or doing cat walks on stages. It was also a great collaboration with Robyn Aedan Pinna (Amuer) who did fabulous work on their hair & make up and the chance to shoot along with amazing photographer, Jade Saducas. Behind it all, thanks to our windfaery friend, Bevlee Tañedo who managed the over-all production of this shoot.
