So few weekends ago, we went on another road trip and hitched a ride with our neighbour friends. We were supposed to go somewhere South but decided in the morning to head out to the other mountain side instead. Despite a not-so-great weather forecast, we risked and went with our guts…luckily the skies cleared and we were treated with a very fine crisp cold autumn weather.
First stop, lunch at Pie in the Sky…I never heard of it before and was also not really fan of pies but it was highly recommended from friends…by the time we went there, a great deal of people were already queuing up to get their orders…to my delight, the pies indeed were worth it and didn’t disappoint.
Baby Seby, our youngest adventurer …
After lunch, we started driving up to the mountains on our way to Mt Wilson…it’s our first time to visit this heritage mountain village surrounded mostly with the charm of bushlands and rainforests, only roughly 2 hrs away from Sydney. From what I’ve heard and read so far, Mt Wilson is the best place to visit during autumn in NSW.
By the time we arrived, already late at 2pm, there were obviously a big crowd which means a lot of cars parked along the streets — which is honestly a bit disappointing because it destroys the beauty of the autumn foliage. Unlike our wonderful experience in Kyoto’s autumn before, parking was only allowed few streets away from the foliage so people didn’t mind the long stretch of walking to get to the autumn gardens. Next year, I hope when we get another chance, I’d definitely come back here at early mornings when it’s not crowded. (Or better yet, come back to visit Kyoto’s autumn –how i truly wish!)
There weren’t too many autumn trees lined up on the first garden that we visited but the foliage of some trees still look quite magical.
Never easy chasing kids around but these nature trips are always great for them to explore all their senses.
We managed to find Cathedral Reserve Park, along Mt Irvine Rd, which was so much better than the previous garden we visited. The whole park was covered with more pretty foliage, some not even in full bloom yet. The idea of camping here is sure enticing and I can’t wait to come back all ready for it next year.
Sofie and Pixie, frenemies forevah! 🙂

one of our first family friends circle here in Sydney…grateful for these guys always!
Yey for a decent family photo together where you see Brian at least showing a little miracle smile (or smirk?)
And yes, I managed to take a jump in the middle of the road, because why not? 🙂
Thanks to Tita Kaye who took the photo for me.
Till next year, Mt Wilson! You’re definitely worth the visit!
