Hey! hello how’s it going?

In case you started to wonder, after not being regularly active in social media the passed days — we have been just living …in a slower, more mindful, purposeful ways..one day at a time. You are likely going to see me post lesser these days too (maybe il just post in a weekly/monthly manner or whenever i only can) ..only because i’m gonna try to be more present with having family time, homeschooling and cut some distracting habits with social media and technology. its been almost 2 weeks now not scrolling to Facebook feeds anymore (can you ever imagine i’d ever do it?) well, its quite a struggle of course at first, guilty of having used to holding my phone almost the entire time until in bed and that urge too to share something all the time, instantly, but now, it’s been really refreshing when i just switch off that part in my brain, don’t click log in anymore and just put down the phone more when necessary. i’ve unsubscribed to many unnecessary stuff in the email too so it doesn’t consume too much of my personal time. i didnt mean to disconnect myself off from all of you though. i’ll be sharing posts more via my instagram and in the blog for my photography when priority allows. i’m still reachable in chat (so, let’s chat if you start to miss me or want to share any news to me at all).

Also, i’ve committed to myself not to buy any new clothing for the next 6months (but aiming for a year if possible) including footwear and i don’t really own accessories/jewelries except my wedding ring. I’ve hacked our wardrobe and it’s totally doable with our existing clothes for the whole season even on the colder months. And we are lessening (or totally cutting off) long travels for the year but definitely going to enjoy simple pleasures that need not spending more to places nearest to us. If there was something I wanted to add in our home, I prefer that we’ll just build it if we can — like a wooden fruit/pantry basket I just proudly built last month for the kitchen. We’d likely buy new wood or find more recyclables but definitely cheaper than buying off the stores. I have yet to attack Pixie’s playroom and pick which ones needed to stay and pray there’s not much crying involve.

it’s been a good decluttering journey so far and i’m incredibly excited to be learning more of it and embracing this lifestyle and strip away more of life’s excess. It may sound crazy to some but I wonder with delight these days how we will evolve in the coming months. i’ve been inspired to try live a minimal life even before actually, that’s why we never decided to buy a TV when we moved here in Sydney and even not owning a microwave. We also celebrated birthdays simply through engaging experiences, especially for Pixie, instead of buying more material stuff. So, this year I got more encouraged to add more concrete (some baby steps, some drastic) actions after I watched the film, “The Minimalists” when it came out last year.

Quoting from their site, “Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.”

It’s definitely hard to walk away from being a hoarder myself for the passed years but I’m more inspired to just do more minimalism starting this year to create more space for what’s more meaningful in our life.

Quoting, Minimalists don’t focus on having less, less, less; rather, we focus on making room for more: more time, more passion, more experiences, more growth, more contribution, and more contentment. More freedom. And clearing the clutter from life’s path helps us make that room.

Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things so we can make room for life’s important things—which aren’t actually things at all.”
